HYROX by the Numbers: Participation, Growth & Event Statistics (2026)
2026-07-15
HYROX went from a single race with 650 athletes in 2017 to an estimated 1.5 million competitors in the 2025/26 season — a trajectory that now outpaces the combined field of the world's major marathons. This page collects the most-cited HYROX participation and growth statistics in one place, each with its source, so athletes, coaches, and journalists have a single reference to point to.
Last updated: July 2026. If you cite these figures, a link back to this page is appreciated — we keep it current each season.

The headline numbers
- ~1.5 million competitors are expected to race in the 2025/26 HYROX season — up from roughly 570,000 the season before.
- 105 races are on the 2025/26 calendar, the first time HYROX has passed 100 events in a single season.
- Those events span 30+ countries and 85+ cities.
- HYROX is now, by athlete count, larger than the six Abbott World Marathon Majors combined.
- Since 2017, participation has grown roughly 1,000% over five years — one of the fastest growth curves in modern sport.
- In directly comparable events, the 2024/25 season grew +118% year over year, with breakout cities like Stockholm and Washington, D.C. each up 330%+.
Why the growth matters (and where it's headed)
HYROX's format is deliberately standardized — the same eight stations, in the same order, at every race worldwide:
1. 1,000m SkiErg
2. Sled Push
3. Sled Pull
4. Burpee Broad Jumps
5. 1,000m Row
6. Farmers Carry
7. Sandbag Lunges
8. 100 Wall Balls
Each of the eight stations is separated by a 1km run (8km of running total). Because the course never changes, every athlete's result is directly comparable across cities and seasons — which is exactly what makes HYROX so measurable, and why data and benchmarking sit at the center of the sport's culture. (Exact station weights vary by division — Open vs. Pro, Men vs. Women; see the official HYROX rules for the current standards.)
That standardization is also why the sport scales: a race in Singapore is the same race as one in Chicago, so results, records, and rivalries travel globally.
How athletes are tracking it
The flip side of a booming, data-obsessed sport is that most athletes still juggle 2–4 apps to log a single training week — a GPS watch for runs, a lifting app for strength, a spreadsheet for station work. HyTrack was built to put running, all eight stations, and strength into one session log, with load balancing that flags the race-block strength drop before it costs you on race day.

Where season-based and calendar-year figures differ, we note the framing. Season figures (e.g. 2025/26) count a full competitive season; calendar-year projections count all athletes racing within a single year. We update this page each season as official numbers are confirmed.
